Cool Da Nm Mmmm whats that..

Anyone doing extensive work on their cars would have come across the term Lbs per Sq inch/ft or Newton meters when using their torque wrenches.. me I'm and old fashioned Lbs man my self and been piling on a few of late.. ..well fiat and other manufacturers are now into a new one just to confuse the matter.. they just love to confuse the hell out of us .com..:) Da Nm is now the new kid on the block and is the norm..this term means Deka Newton meters ..to get the Nm value all you have to do is multiply the Deka value by the figure 10..for example..DaNm 7 x 10 gives you Nm 70..:)

All torque settings are there for a purpose and you should follow the recommended from the hand book /manual..:)

To give just one example is a head gasket..under tightening will result in a H/G failure and that goes for an over tightening also..so follow all torque values for correct maintenance of your car..:)

very very rarely do i have to do a head gasket, never keep any cars that long but have done a few on transits and in that rare instance i did utilize a torque wrench. but in the majority of cases the breaker bar is good for me :D
