And before she goes to buy a coil it could be tested like this..
Take out coil and insert a spare plug ..
Use a good pair of insulated pliers and some rubber gloves..get someone to turn over the engine briefly so you see the spark ..if you do see a spark coil is good..do it with a hot engine tho and not a cold one cos the coil could be breaking down under load when hot and this test with a hot engine will determine this..modern engines give off lots of volts so if you do try it Poshy be careful please and at the very least get someone you dont like very much to hold the coil in the pliers..
Also there has now been a report stating that code P1687 coming up on cars and two peeps having changed their throttle bodies have found inside of them a broken spring which accounts for the code..unfortunately the spring isnt available and so a new throttle body is the only option..
