Hi, can i ask how you know he emissions are good?, Remember new cars are very sensitive to thier emissions, and the slightest variances can trigger a fault code. Not all fault codes show up as an Engine light, for your info.

I havent ever used a handheld scanner so cant help in that respect, but doesnt it show you the DTC codes and the status?

If a code is pending it isnt active so hasnt occured enough times to trigger the warning light. DTC codes are usually a letter followed by three digits, and also their status (active, stored or pending).

If you are clearing the code and its still coming back it may be worth, if possible, trying to connect to the car with a different piece of equipment - it could be that the U480 cannot understand the response from your car for some reason hence the display.

Let us know how you get on, and dont worry about it - we all started somewhere.

Thanx Dan It's not affecting the car in any way so Im not overly concerned I just dont want it to be a warning of something big (and expensive) on the way !! there are no pending faults or MIL light just N/A 01/01, I understand the code system (thanx PNL) and was wondering if this is a "stilo" quirk

No real quirks with stilos, well petrol ones anyway. Those tools read the DTC codes/status using just the EOBD protocol, which doesnt always report everything correctly on fiats - could be that the scanner doesnt know how to handle what its being told correctly..
