    Default Front spring recall....

    Got a letter about it the other day, got it booked in at AMC Fiat in Chelmsford. They said they need the car over night, what the hell they gonna do to it?

    Firstly they will give the springs a look over to make sure that none of them are fractured or broken and then they will fit to the front suspension legs to shrouds or as we now call it the stilo spring bodge ;D this will stop the spring puncturing a tyre if one should snap :o yes mate I'm sorry to say they do snap as many have found out and at their own expense >:(

    In theory - at least - if one spring is thought to be buggered (front or back) then they should replace both on that axle at the same time - FOC ;)

    This is because they up all the scrap steel from the cracked rails out of the back yard of Network Rail.

    Just like how Fiat bought up loads of cold-war steel from Russia...that wasn't stainless. Hence rust bicket Fiats till the early 90's. It would have bankrupted them to buy in loads more steel, so they had no choice but to use it.
