    Default Strange door lock bug

    Hi
I wonder if anyone has encountered this,
Both our cars have had this fault appear, but the multiwagon seems to have it appear more often.

Some times (this is not consistant) you unlock the car and all the doors unlock except the passinger rear door.
To get out of it we need to open the front door - shut it, lock, unlock, lock then again unlock and the door will open.
The main problem we have is we use the child locks so this can be rather annoying and embarrising.
This has occured on both cars now, more often it happens on the multiwagon but i just noticed it tonight on my car, that trick managed to get the door open again.

Im suspecting its a sticky solenoid on the door lock - it just seems strange that both my cars have the same fault on the same door. Ive done the usual trick of disconnecting the battery when this happens but it still fails until the above proceedure is carried out (thank my mrs for working that one out).

Has anyone else seen this happen?, i will remove the door cards one day and lube all the rods and bit up - but that will be a one day when it comes sort of job.

Cool Re: Strange door lock bug

As you know the connection point for power to the electronics of the door nodes are on the front pillar just in front of the front doors have you unplugged these and cleaned up any possible poor connection there..I Have seen many others also encounter this problem on their cars as well and they never seem to actually get to the cause of the problem..A few have found a faulty lock though..I think all electronic signals come through the can line of the car so I think this might be another one of those electronics glitches that are now so common with the stilo.. Have you a scanner roy and had a look to see if anything has been logged on the ECU at all..?

this happend to me . but as i had the 3 door model it was only doing it to the passanger door and the boot . but the car was fu*ked anyway the ecu had a mind off its own . keep cutting the car out saying ASR and ABS failure . then one day was driving and the ECU went bang . this ment a new ecu not cheap £450 . that was a massive blow .

Thanks phil, so often its the obvious things that are causing the probs, i just took the door wireing out and sprayed it with contact cleaner, the bottom connections were corroded on both cars. ive put grease around the outside of the connector to seal it and touch wook it seems to have done the trick. only time will tell though.
    thanks for that pointer mate
