Brake pads down
i have recently changed my front brake pads and i did everything right, i disconnected the negative terminal on the battery and then changed the pads, fitted the new pads and connected the brake pad sensor to the back of the callpier. A couple of days later, it is now giving a warning that the BRAKE PADS DOWN, but they are brand new pads. Im puzzled as to why this is happening.
can anybody help as i am stump!!!!

Re: Brake pads down
Double check you;ve not bent the pins on the connection mate and caused a "cross wire" type scenario.
Must admit i;ve never disconnected the battery to change mine :-/
Check the wire / connection is not damaged also,
If not i suppose it is "possible" that you may have a defective pad!

When i was under the arch the other day i noticed that my wire had been snapped, no more, not connected, gone? I guess mine should be showing the same error but i have nothing. I did a look on the net and noticed someone else in the same situation.
Obviously you have checked the connectors, have you tried it not connected?
I know its not a solution but it could get rid of the error? :P

Re: Brake pads down
i cut the wire off the pad, never get any bother.

Re: Brake pads down
As its only on one side I would take of the wheel and clean up the connection with contact cleaner and check there isnt any damage to the wiring in any way..

Ditto to that Ged
..I am also wondering if he might have actually triggered and abs warning by pushing the fluid back through the sensors ..if anyone follows my guide I do stipulate clamping the brake hose and ejecting fluid out of the bleed nipples while pushing back the caliper pistons..

Re: Brake pads down
The warning appears when the pad connection is grounded. So disconnecting the cable would stop the warning altogether. Just dont forget to check your pads :-)

Re: Brake pads down
thyanks for all your help, i will try cleaning the connecter first then if that doesnt work then i will try and disconnecting it. I dont really want to cut it though, if neither of them two work then i will just put up with it.

Re: Brake pads down
You dont need to cut it, just put a bit of insulation tape over the connector and tie it out the way with a cable tie somewhere safe.
I had my pads done on my old Bravo HGT it was similar, the garage never even reconnected them and I quizzed them about the spare wire left over.
No warning either.
