    Default Wheel judder problems

I had a lovely shiny set of Pirelli P Zero Neros fitted to my Abarth last week, they look lovely, and grip really well, problem is I have now noticed that when I brake from speed, I get a moderate judder through the steering wheel. It only happens at speeds over about 40mph, and only happens under braking.
From looking over the internet, most suggestions are warped discs, I don't reckon so as they were fine pre new tyres.

Could dodgy balancing put them far enough out to cause this?

    Cheers

    Andy

Definitely sounds like braking issues, but since it was just after a tyre fitting I'm wondering if something's been knocked out of alignment or from it's proper place. ABS sensor perhaps, though I know feck all about such things

Don't think it's balance issues as that's more at a certain constant speed rather than under braking as far as I know.

hi,it could be just coincidence that you have noticed the judder since fitting the new boots
I would have thought that if it was a ballancing problem you would get judder at the steering wheel without braking
Dont know if it is the new tyres but when i had the problem as you have it was infact a warped disc

    Cool Re: Wheel judder problems

Now I'm gonna show my age because you dont see this around nowadays..

When I was a young chap you could get balancing done with the wheel/tyre on the car..this then balanced everything on that side..if it was a front wheel drive car then you would benefit from it as the drive shaft disk the bloomin lot got included..and any problems with the drive would show up..I can give you an instance of how this worked out for me when I had new boots fitted to my Austin ambassador when he couldn't get perfect balance on the one side. that turned out to be a bottom ball joint..

So yes I think you need to look at the disc because brake shudder when braking does tell me you may have disc run out..you either change them or get it checked out where they will rotate the disk using a dial gauge to check for distortion/run out..also you could have picked up some brake pad meterial on a disc this will also cause it..so get it checked..time for you to get down and dirty with your car once more..

    This might also help you..

I had the car at a local fast fit joint today for a pair of drive belts for alternator and AC to remedy noise.

The discs are stuffed, the inside is badly corroded except of pad swept area and there is the mother of all lips on them!

    New pair soon!
