Default Steering Wheel Shakes & Fitting CN+

No point in creating two threads but..

When I go slightly over 70mph, the steering wheel shakes? Is this normal? I have a 1.8 16V.

Also, is there a guide (With or without pictures) for removing the original CD player and fitting the CN+?

Only I dont like taking bits off my pride and joy as only had it less than a week and really dont want to ruin anything lol

Edit: Also, my engine sounds.. Well.. Beefy? Almost as if there is an induction kit fitted... (I despise those things). What is the general engine tone of a 1.8 16V Stilo? Its due for a service on monday, so I guess they could tell me then... But its just curiosity really lol

Cool Re: Steering Wheel Shakes & Fitting CN+

Get your wheels balanced and see if that improves things ..if the wheels shake at a specific speed then thats probably it..dont ask me about anything audio I still use a wind up gramophone.. engine sounds beefy ..Mmm have you got an air filter filter.. maybe someone took it out out and didnt replace it and left the airbox empty..

Hmmm, well the wheel balancing makes sense and will do that pronto. Not sure to be honest, just wondered if the general engine tone for a 1.8 was quite loud and powerful sounding... If not, then theres something wrong with mine! haha!

Fitting the CN+ isnt that difficult it cant be cause Ive done it but I didnt bother with the external antenna which made it a lot easier.Off the top of my head you just need a live from ignition and a time delay switch( this stops the trip mileage from flashing) its about £30. There is a full guide on FF but when you look at it it can put you off from doing it cause it looks a lot to do but when you sort out what actually needs doing its not that much if that makes any sense. I got an internal antenna from ebay its round and just sits at the side between windscreen and dash without any wires showing. If you want to go ahead with it I'll try and put some instructions together with pics.

Dont know about the way its fitted in the Stilo but when I had a Punto HGT (same engine) it certainly sounded loud, almost like the exhaust was blowing but it wasnt. Throaty was the word my dad used..

The 1.8 vis engine is a cracker if maintained properly. Check the noise of the engine on startup - if it sounds like a diesel for a few seconds upon starting it will probably want a new variator. Problem is its a cambelt off jobbie so costs a few quid.

Nice looking motor you've got yourself by the looks of things!

Well it does sometimes sound diesely but then other times it doesnt. It definately sounds like it has an induction kit fitted, but not looked yet.

Tracking is being done on saturday and was gonna fit the CN+ so if you could post some sort of picture guide Johnson then that would be appreciated! Wish I had it in black to match the dash lol.

I guess I can see after its major service, if anything needs looking at, but overall, got myself a nice motor I think! Travelled nearly 300 miles for it haha!

Hopefully the mechanic will tell me that no induction kit has been fitted and theres nothing wrong with the exhaust. Really love the sound of the engine :D
