Default Installation Of Sat Nav Unit

I know there are guides for this, but its so indepth, its easy to kind of lose yourself lol. I have the unit on its own and judging by the guide, need a microphone and some looms? Have neither, so not good start lol. Unless of course the mic is built into the unit? That would make things easier. I'm planning to install it without changing the antenna (Mainly because I refuse to start mucking around with the headlining and stuff). Its more on the phone usage that I'm interested in. I would appreciate, if there are any available, a picture guide to installing this as it also requires fitting a delay and to be honest, I aint the best person to start mucking with the engine or electrics as such if I dont know what I'm doing lol. Also, if possible, could someone advise me on the best microphone to get?

Once I know how to install the unit, I will prob change to the black one as I dont like the light effect as a fascia... Would be so much easier if they were changeable! lol!

I installed my Sat-Nav unit a couple nights ago and I was suprised to see that the mileage didnt flash at all? Although the unit does seem to be frozen on the fiat image that would normally come up when you turned it on... I spoke to the person that I bought it off and they said that if I take it to a Fiat dealership, they can order in the code and that will get rid of the freezing... My only question would be, since its frozen and none of the functions work at all, how would they put that code in?!

Has anyone else come across this before?

It wont work properly just putting in like that I am in the process of putting a guide together together but youl have to bear with me cause I cant sit at the computer very long. If you get these bits it will be a start a double din cage Fiat part no 46790149, a mic part no 735346218 (Lancia Ypsilon) and a time delay switch from www.farnell.com part no 104027

Well if you can get it up on a post on FF then I'll read it from there. Whatever works really?

I don’t think your issue is related to the code. When the unit starts up it will query the body computer via the can network to check the code. If the code in the CN+ doesn’t match the code stored in the body computer it will ask for a code.

Because your unit is locking up on the fiat logo I would say its got a partially corrupt flash or something..

When you power it on, it basically tries to

    1. Boot vxworks kernel (CN+ operating system)
    2. initialise CAN network (this is the bit the timer delay relay allows you to skip thus preventing the flashing mileage)
    3. check code against body computer (via CAN network)
    4. check for CD changer on bus port.
    5. load application software (what you see on the screen)

The fact you aren’t getting the flashing mileage with the unit plugged in would indicate the CN+ isn’t talking to the rest of the car or its had a CN+ fitted from the factory.

If possible I would try and test the unit by just providing power to it, if the unit still locks up then I would go about getting a refund while you still can

As far as a guide goes, there is one already in the guides section on FF. I have a CN+ but it came with my car as standard so cant help you much on the retrofitting aspect.

    All the best

    Dan
