noise from nsr wheel
i currently have a noise coming from the nsr wheel. i changed the back brakes the other week and i started to get a noise which sounded like the wheel bearing. so i changed the wheel bearing and now the noise still persists, i only get the noise after i drive the car for a while. i pored some water on the wheel the other night and the steam that came from it was unbelievable. i thik its the disc rubbing on the pads and geting to hot the making the noise.
anybody got any ideas? much appreciated if anyone can help.

Re: noise from nsr wheel
It sounds like the slide pins could be seized,You will need to remove the pads again ,when you pushed back the piston did it go back easy ??? you will need to check the condition of the slide pins if you push back the "rubber" cover over the slide pins top and bottom of caliper check for rust if their is remove and grease them up ,you will need to have them sliding easy otherwise when you apply brakes they will not release properly, this might have to be done a couple of times

Re: noise from nsr wheel
When you fitted your rear pads on the stilo did you notice that there is a locating pin ..if you didnt seat the pad in the caliper correctly with the pin to piston in the correct position the whole lot will bind..also did you or didnt you slacken the hand brake cable before you fitted the pads..?
To be or not to be that is the question..???????

All wheel bearings need to be touqued down to a specific reading and in this repect over tightening is as bad as under tightening..more so as you have an abs pick up on the bearing..gone I think are the old practices of tightening a bearing and then backing it of to the next space on the castled nut..they were the good and easier times of auto maintainance which by and large are now sadlely gone..

Ahhh thought it was a good way to show your apprication for someone giving good sound advice ,and steering you down the rite path
Instead of filling a thread with thanks was easy to push the thanks button ,,,ah well will just have to put a "thanks in advance" message
And cant get my smilies to work either ,when i put one in ,for some reason wont continue on with the sentence
