Is this cold weather messing with your stilo's electrics ??
Hi guys,
just wondering if this cold weather has been messing any body's electrics up? . stupid errors on the dash ?
i have always had the usual intermittent air bag system failure but since this freezing weather has been here i have had .....rear left fog lamp failure , abs , esp , asr , WTF is with stilos and electrics ?
Well the wife went into panic mode
, we turned the car off and back on again and all errors gone.
Now i am presuming that its the freezing weather and moisture that's causing the problem ,if you know any different ?? or if any one else has had this problem do you have any tips on how to prevent it (other than selling or burning it ) all i can say its a dam shame because they are bloody nice cars .

Re: Is this cold weather messing with your stilo's electrics ??
A lot of problem on the stilo is down to battery and the initial first start [boot up ]in the morning hows the condition if the battery and the alternator have you had either checked on the car..bad earths can also cause major problems as well so its worth looking at that as well..

Re: Is this cold weather messing with your stilo's electrics ??
Mine thinks its battery has been disconnected, even though it has not. The clock has been flashing now for about a week and my stored avr MPG figure has been deleted. I am now wondering if this has anything to do with the turbo overboost valve also going, replaced yesterday.

Re: Is this cold weather messing with your stilo's electrics ??
Had'nt run the car since wed past ,so thought i would take it for a short drive today went to start it and it only just turned over to start got window wiper error as well as auto light failure so switch off ign and on again ,errors were gone ,my car is garaged most of the week just now so going to invest in a charger with conditioner hopefully this will solve error messages .Am i rite in thinking that the alternator will only put a charge into the battery if running at 2000rpm's??? as i take it for a run rather than let idle ,

Re: Is this cold weather messing with your stilo's electrics ??
Low volts at first start ..this cold weather kills the best batteries..might be woth you guys giving your batteries a slow charge..time to get ya chargers out.. and next time round get ya self a bigger AH one like the one fitted to the JTD..
I ususall turn mine over even if its not in use just let it Idle till its warm ..will help to keep the battery in a higher state of charge and less likely to let you down when the car is needed..

aren't the JTD's batteries way bigger for the petrol engine bay's?
well at least they were when i bought my battery, but that was nearly 2 years ago, even longer probably...

It a case of AH not case size that important..

That's just what i did when i first got the car , i was having all types of problems and by putting the larger battery on (higher AH) seemed to have done the trick
, until now .. but like you say cold weather does not do batteries any good at all , it makes sense now that if the charge is a little low ...all the errors are back.
