    Default Broken Windscreen wipers

Yesterday i went out to my car, started it up && drove off, went to wash me windows and all that happened was that the water was squirted, no wipers!
So i stopped, turned the car off && on again and the windscreen wipers worked.
The car has been doing it on and off for the last 2 days, off more than on tbh. Sometimes i have to leave the car for 15 minutes :@
I had to chance a motorway drive today praying it wouldn't rain.
Anyone any idea's why my wipers don't work?
    Thanks

Hi,does your rear wiper still work when your front does'nt ??? if it does then i would think the problem will be with the front motor ,alot of problems that i have read about are caused by to much grease in the motor housing ,causing poor contact to the brushes and giving intermittent wipers, you could try and remove grease from the motor ,but to get to the motor you will need to remove the scuttle ,if you read the thread "broken wiper linkage" pnl explains how to remove and what you will need ,
If your rear has stopped at the same time then it's likely to be electrical and hopefully someone will point you in the rite direction if it is

my old 1.6 used to do this occasionally, once it started to hammer down and then the wipers stopped mid arc, i had to pull over and re start the car and off they went again, i never got to the bottom of this problem and just lived with it.
but i will be very intrested on what you find, i peronally think its one of those gremblins that live in each and every stilo, my wife motor still for no reason will fail to let you in the back passinger door - you have to do some wierd lock unlock dance then it will let her in....

Right then guys, i had it looked at. My Wiper stalk wasn't sending anything to the wiper motor's. Got a new stalk coming shortly.
When i brought the car the bloke said it had rain sensitive wipers. As far as i can tell it doesnt, how do they work/how can you test!
    Thanks!

You can see if it has by looking at the outside/top/center of the windscreen, if it has a little square like form is the sensor, if it hasn't that option is unavailable in your stilo.

It works in intermittent mode of your stalk, when in this setting the wiper blades will work faster or slower depending on rain quantity.
