I'd just left the house this morning, and as I drove along, the drivers side rear window wound itself down all by itself, and refused to wind up again from drivers side switch. I drove on for a couple of miles to a garage to look at it more closely. On both the drivers doors switch and the rear door switch, each press if the switch got a relay like click from inside the rear door, but no movement, I left it a few seconds, then tried again from the drivers door switch, this time the window wound up maybe 5 cm then stopped, repeating this let me shut the window.

When I got home later, I tried the switch again, it rolled down fine, then again refused to roll up. Leaving it a while allowed me repeat the winding up in steps procedure from before. Any ideas what could have caused it? And most importantly, what I can do to fix it. I tried all the other windows and they all work fine.

I'm confused and in need of guidance. I'll prbablt wait until next weekend before pulling the Dior to bits so any guidance would be appreciated.

Moisture may have got into the control panel on your door, mate.
Take it out and check for signs of corrosion / moisture etc.
If not something simple it could be anything, faulty relay / motor, bad earth/grounding, faulty auto open (safety) mechanism, trapped wiring etc etc
If the panel appears fine
Disconnect teh battery for 30 mins to see if a reset takes place and sorts it.
