if you have a bit of slack on your steering
with engine off and ignition off
quickly jiggle your steering wheel from left to right
does you steering seem to be a bit slack with a bit of a knock in it from turn to turn?
well mine did and had for a couple of years until yesterday i decided to investigate
turned out the steering knuckle behind your clutch pedel was a bit loose
there is a 10mm bolt on the side of the knuckle
i found mine was very loose so i took a 10mm spanner and tightened it up
now i have no slack in my steering and now knocking.

i suggest everyone check this knuckle out for slack as its only a simple 2minute fix.

Lucky you found that Scottie..I wasnt so lucky when it happened to me in a austin 1100 years ago ..I went to turn a corner and the steering wheel just kept on turning..Ooooops..cost me a new rack and pinion that did..Doh!!!

yeah, its been like that since fiat fitted a new rack about 3 years ago, i just took it upon myself to investigate yesterday morning
wouldnt have been nice at about 70mph on the motorway the knuckle becoming undone

could have been thats why i advise everyone to check theirs

Glad you investigated I bet. Is it easy to get at? Just I went to try and grease the stupidly creaky clutch I have a while back and couldn't get anywhere with it as I couldn't get to it

if you look in behind the clutch pedel you will see the steering knuckle going through the floor. if you move the steering wheel left to right you will see the 10mm nut
