Hello Pat..it could be pedal switch but dont discount voltage at the battery..electronics on the stilo are very sensitive and it always need top dolla when it comes to volts there should be 12.5 volts at the battery chassis earth should always be good as well so check that first..if its the switch then I picked up this tip from a fiat tech..top man is T..
[1] Remove the switch [twist] to remove..
[2] pull out the plunger..
[3] hold down the brake pedal while refitting the switch..
[4] Insert a feeler blade between switch plunger and pedal [1mm some times its 2mm]try both..
[5] Slowly allow pedal to come up..

Wit, sarcasm, you get it all from me..

Hi just to add onto phils reply you may still have the sound dead'ing panel fitted so you will need to remove to see the switch, and in addition if using a new switch (only £7)you will need to trim the lugs (arrowed) to get it to lock in as they are a mm to long and it took me over 2 hours to realise why it would not go/lock in
0 and i hope you have a supple body and small hands !!!
But i wish i had the benifit of phils advice on the feeler gauge which is very important for setting the "plunger"or you could end up chasing your tail as i did thinking the new switch was faulty/not the problem
sound lad's ill let ye know the outcome
