Gearbox crunching
Now the weather has got colder again m gearbo seems to be crunching through the gears (we'll 2nd + 3rd.)
When cold gears are notchy, but gets better as it warms, but when warm if I accelerate hard bringing the revs up when changing up (1st to 2nd expecially) you get an awful crunch. It's like the syncro's are on the way out but dosen't happen under economical driving.
Now heres the thing. I remember this happening last winter, and kept putting off sorting it, and when the summer (increase in temp) came it went and I forgot about it.
So any ideas as to what it could be
(1.4 6-speed).

First off Jon lets look at the recent gearbox oil leak you had..when you found this did the car have a low oil level in the box? driving the car with a low level can cause internal damage and there may indeed be syncro damage done ie..to much end float on the gear sets as one instance..also the grade of oil can influence how the gear sets work and a lighter grade might help you in this instance and give you better shifting.. other things you will need to check out is ..
No air in hydraulic clutch system
Gearshift cables are correctly adjusted or need re-adjusting
Yours does sound that it maybe be internal syncro damage tho so get all the things I have outlined checked out..but I must say the oil change certainly wont do any further damage and could actually help..keep us in the loop on how this pans out..
My car will be two years old next April and in the winter 1st to 2nd gets quite stiff so I have bought some of this to improve the shifting..

Cheers Phil. Think I'm going to start by changing the oil. Complete drain and change. Where is the drain plug on the Stilos 6speed box?
Also how does one Adjust the gear selectors and is the clutch bite point adjustable?
