Bad Acceleration 16 16v Stilo Dynamic 52 plate
Hi, I've had this car for a couple of years with no problems until last week, when half way through my journey it started to miss and the 'engine fault' indication came up on the dash.
At first I thought it was the spark plugs and fitted new ones but this didnt solve the problem.
I then pulled off the long spark plug caps one by one listening for any change and found that the one nearest the battery made no change at all, I replaced it with a new one.
It is now running a lot better and the warning on the dash has gone, but when I put my foot on the accelerator the revs go up but there is not much power.
I have also disconnected the battery to reset the ECU.
Have I missed something?

Reason: mistake

Rev's increasing with no power at the wheels is clutch failure. I'd have said yours is on its way out :(

im sure Ged20d was telling me something really similar yesterday, witch came up after changing the spark plugs, if you give him a pm he might tell you how he solved that issue...

Hey mate, x3me told me about yout problem and yeah I have had the same thing with my car once
When you put your foot on the accelerator it can take a noticeably long time to get to high revs. I have also been driving up my road and I have been able to put my foot all the way down with no response from the engine but the car doesn’t stall. I cleaned my throttle body and also change spark plugs to no avail.
If I remember correctly its something to do with the accelerator control and it needs resetting?
Solution: was to NOT touch the accelerator
Turn the key one notch to the accessories position and leave for a minute
Turn off the ignition for another minute and then start the car.
I did however have to repeat the process a couple of times, but this did fix it and I haven’t had the problem since.
I will try finding where I got this info from just might have to wait until lunch as in work... I am confident this is the process though
let me know how you get on...
