    Default 1.2 stilo active help

    hi guys
newbie here to the fiat world and forums needing a little advice

i recently bought a 52 plate 1.2 stilo active and it seems it takes alot of time to gain speed from 300rpm even iff my foot is on the floor. The acceleration is ok but it does say airbag failure and once or twice engine failure but not much ( the airbag failure is constant) also there is no engine management light on, i did feel the car dive as it should for about 5 mins then it went back to its normal self, the car does pull but looses it very quickly.

i have not hade the car tested for fault codes but it does have a blow in the exhaust, could this be my prob

    kind regards

    dave

Does it rev oddly as in, does it sound a bit like it's not running on all cylinders? Just you could have a coil issue. Basically this fits above the spark plug and it's actually pretty simple and cheap to replace if it is. Certainly if it were a dud coil, you'd experience major performance issues and as I say, the engine would sound completely off plus you would get an engine warning light.

Airbag failure is a separate issue though and it's been covered a few times on most of the Fiat forums. Personally, I did the lazy approach and took it to Fiat as it was under warranty at the time but I have heard of DIY options. Cleaning the connectors (under the passenger seat iirc - need to remove the clip on panel at the base of the seat to gain access) is one option. Not sure of others, but maybe the other members can provide a better option

dont think mate, your best option would be to get some fault codes for that, it would be alot easyier to go from there, there's another thread, but with 1.6 from another user that has similar problem by the looks of it http://www.clubfiat.net/tech/4192-ba...-52-plate.html
what concerns the airbag failure, it will be the OCS sensor witch is on it's last legs or dead already...

    thanx for the reply guys

@muppet42 the engine seems to be running fine there is a bit of a pop from the exhaust to think it was mis firing but when i press the accelerator it is fine plus there is no engine light present.

@x3me im going to get the codes read asap and go from there, i have already tried the throttel relearn procedure but it didnt seem to make much difference and also could you tell me what the ocs sensor is?,sorry im a bit of a newbie to fiats

iff it is the ocs sensor is it a diy job iff so i dont mind getting my hands dirty iff not what costs will i be looking at ?...

Ocs I believe is the sensor in the base of the passenger seat that detects a passenger in it and weather the car will deploy the passenger front airbag or not in the event of a Crash.

thats the same one, if it is dead, you can go two ways: 1. buy and OCS emulator, about £50, install it in beetween the wires that go to the seat 2. get a new OCS sensor and install it yourself, you will have to strip all the seat down and replace it
worst thing in OCS emulator is that it will deploy in even of crash in any case, doesnt matter whether there is a passenger in the seat or not...

And seeings as the later Stilos like mine didn't even have the ocs fitted I'd go for option 1.

thanx once again for the help , i will look into the 1st option asap and hopefully get it sorted out. At the moment it doesnt seem to be a major prob so i will save my pennies and correct it in the near future.
regarding the power it may just be that the car is really slow as it is only a 1.2 and after getting out of my audi 1.8t it seems like my little fiat wouldnt pull me out of bed lol but it does seem i have to drive the car hard just to get any speed out of it.
as stated above i have done a throttle relearn but not much diffferance in regards to power, gonna give the air filter and throttle body a good clean this week and see how we go from there then ill put it on a diagnostic (iff i can find a decent garage to do it)

any suggestions are more than welcome
