My car had a plastic version of that in the spare tyre kit for doing it. Worked every time for me, just a pain removing the sub to do the left hand side.

You need a telescopic magnet mate me thinks, or start wrapping your sockets with a bit of Insulation tape.....WORD!!

Is it not possible to put a bit of card underneath the bolt so it doesn't fall anywhere?

Well I'm just about to change one of my rear side lights... The bulb looks pathetically small lol! W5W? (Going by the handbook here as I want everything standard lol)
