    Default Engine fault

today i've left my stereo on for about 4hrs, got into car, almost started... battery was almost dead, anyway went about for a mile and a half, stopped at the lights and suddenly it just died :o
started it again, and same again - died :-\ then i've noticed that if i keep my foot on the accelerator it wont die, so went to the parking lot, it died there aswell, after i started it everything was fine except i've got engine fault warning on the dash now...
any clues what it might be? ??? my scruffy battery? :-\

Possibly caused by the battery going almost flat. Might be worth charging it overnight and retest it tomorrow. ;)

havent got charger and it happened again today, went 200m from the house and just died, i thought it might be lack of water in my battery, so went to tesco and bought some distilled water, topped it up, hopefully it'll work for a few more weeks, then i'll get a new battery :)

You might want to check the throttle body, it might be gummed up and needs cleaning. That should cure the cutting out fault! ;D

Deffo sounds like battery, my old car did the same, apart from it wouldnt start and yeah if you keep throttle down it will keep running due to it running under its own steam so to speak

Simplest way to charge the battery if you haven't got a charges is to idle the engine without any electrics switced in. Turn off lights (if possible - if not turn them over one click; to park), heater and stereo. Let it idle for a while and test it. Drive without headlights (you did not get that advice on this forum) on a side road etc. to test.

This is an emergency test charge.
