    Default Kumho Tyres - thoughts?

I'm starting to look around for some new tyres....... don't need them just yet but no harm in having a squint ;)

Anyway, I've been offered a good deal on 4 Kumho Ecsta tyres and I confess to being quite tempted. I bought a pair for a mate (he was skint) last year for his Honda Type 'S' and he was deeply impressed with them - but he drives mostly in town wheras 99% of my driving is on the open road 8)

So has anyone tried these on a Stilo - if yes, how'd you get on with them?

I may revert to Vredestein - probably Quatrac 3 this time - but if I can't get themn at the price I want to pay then will most probably look for a good all weather tyre, but the Michelins currently on the front of the Stilo (BF Goodrich on back) have given a good account of themselves, especially in the damp/snow.

Anyway - Kumho tyres. Thoughts ???

bloody good, had ecsta's on my punto and they were brill ;) very grippy, but there a bit more of a dry weather tyre than an all weather tyre.

ever though of falken ziex or zeix 912, thats what iv got on the front of mine, and there excellent. and cheap

my 215/40/18's were 86quid fitted, and for my stupid strange size, thats cheap, cosidering conti sport2's are 140quid before i think about fitting ;)

due to stupid prices of 225/40/18's, Kumho are most probably going to replace what i have at the moment.

there are sets of 4 ecsta's on the bay for £200.

only thing i dont like is the tread pattern. the patterns on the Verdisteins are yummy, but i was quoted around £400, and thats meant to be a good price

who gives a toss what the tread pattern looks like, its how they perform, toyo proxees had by far the sexiest tread pattern, but they were bloody scary in the wet, bloody scary, like ice :o

Aye, aesthetics are all very well but I'm with Red - I like loads of grip, good/excellent wear rates and a price that's right ;D
If they look like sh*t but they do all the above then I really don't care 8)

Well, how things change - seem to be having a run of bad luck at the moment :(
Not content with the crow 'episode' ( see http://www.performancestilo.co.uk/in...p?topic=1108.0) I had to take a rough corner a might tighter than I would have liked the very next day thanks to a wayward Porsche. Car felt a wee bit odd afterwards...... so checked it over the following morning. Both N/S front tyres (Michelins, with a mere 10k miles on them) had bloody great bulges on the sidewalls :o

So I went over to a local tyre fitters and had 2 Vredestein Sportrac 3 tyres fitted. Mid-fitting the tyre 'guru' there called me over to have a look at the rear tyres...... oh feck...... n/s rear was borderline illegal and the o/s rear had some tread coming loose (both were BF Goodrich) so I had all four tyres changed ::)

So there's 4 nice new Vredestein Sportrac 3 tyres (V-rated) on the car for a smidgen over £300 :-[ Balls.

There goes my birthday piss up ::)
