recall info
\'ello again all.
i know which main dealer my car was sold by and part serviced by originally (when i bought the car there was very little service history with it). so i\'ve written them a letter asking for copies of any invoices of work done. i\'m also trying to find out if they have records of any the recall work done that\'s relevant to my chassis number.
anyone had any experience of this? am i holding out too much for a main dealer to reply!? :S
i bet if they don\'t know they\'ll try and charge me to do it! anyone know where i stand with that as well!?
cheers

Re:recall info
To be honest buddy the chances are those bits have already been done (if second hand) but better to get it checked and don\'t back down from those Fiat bullies.

Re:recall info
yeah, kind of hoping they\'re already done like you say. it\'s that thing of getting your car how you like it, i go a bit overboard trying to make sure everythings done!
nothing from them yet!
they were quick to send me a quote the other day though for a spare key! £97 for a non remote and £175 for a remote!!!

Re:recall info
Surely there must be somewhere else you can get a remote key from?

Re:recall info
apparently a lot of it comes down to the main dealer getting the codes (they want to charge me £20 for that alone!). i don\'t know if you can order the codes and then get it coded somewhere else? i\'ve hear rumours that the keys and codes are tied in with an individual car\'s ecu. dunno though? might just be a vicious rumour!

Re:recall info
update on my recall info letter to main dealer...
i was amazed! got a letter back within a week detailing when they\'d seen my car for servicing, with mileage, and a list of the recall work done!
although they couldn\'t give me any copies of invoices due to data protection. i was amazed at the response (and that they didn\'t charge me a £1000 for it!) :)

Re:recall info
hello,
i wrote down the recalls from the vosa site which affected my chassis number;
http://www.vosa.gov.uk/vosa/apps/rec...hes/search.asp
Someone on the fiat forum had written down the fiat numbers as well, so i cross referenced and wrote the vosa number and the fiat campaign number for the main dealer so there\'s no queries!
Oct 06: Service Solution for Front Suspension Springs
FIAT Campaign Number: 5044
June 05: Possible Loss of Steering
FIAT Campaign Number: 4968
June 05: Software Update
FIAT Campaign Number: 4979
May 03: Unintended Activation of Side Window Airbags
FIAT Campaign Number: 4618
March 03: Possible Short Circuit in Engine Cooling Fan Control Circuit
FIAT Campaign Number: Unknown
Mine had had the Oct 06 Front Suspension one and one of the earlier ones as well.
I was amazed i got a response from teh main dealer, full credit to them! Although they are trying to get almost £200 out of me for a new key as well!!
hope helps!
