Re: ABZSTILO - update on remap woes & stuff
Abz,
Have you checked the Turbo pressue Sensor, very common that they develop a fault, mainly due to where they are positioned. (Very low where they are very easily soaked etc)
May just be coincidence that you had the remap done, and now this problem arises (??)
Also i am struggling to see how the diagnostic machine would tell you if the vehicle was running any boost at all, surely they would have to actually perform a specific test for that, and in anyway, the vehicle would ideally need to be under load for the tests to be worth anything.
I would however check that sensor, and if you have to replace it, then move it higher up near the battery box where it will be much happier!

OOOOOOOooooooooooo,
Ok, Abz have you considered returning the vehicle to standard, Does Red Dot not offer any satisfaction guarentee's, Have your tried a different Company, or even an alternative, like a good quality digi tuning box (once returned to standard).
I would take it back and tell them whats up ahave it reverted to ori, and go somewhere else, or ry something different.
Sorry P, but his post wasn;t very clear, and its not for me to suggest that some tuners cause more problems than the ysolve.
The Valve issue!, well it was only a "suggestion"!

Re: ABZSTILO - update on remap woes & stuff
just sounds like your map sensor is going over-range and hence reading zero, i think yours is a 2.5 bar sensor it can be possibly replaced with the 3 bar map sensor off the jtd 16v but you may have to modify the plug as the 3 bar is a 4 wire as it measures temp as well.
have you had the map sensor off to clean or tried replacement std.
try reading these

hope these may help you to find your problem
any chance you can put a boost gauge in line to get a real boost reading?
dont forget
2.5 bar sensor reads upto 1.5 bar above atmospheric (approx 22psi)
3.0 bar sensor reads upto 2.0 bar above atmospheric (approx 29psi)
my jtd16v std boost never goes above 26psi well away from its 29psi sensor limit

Re: ABZSTILO - update on remap woes & stuff
Cheers for the suggestions, the boost valve has long since been relocated and replaced - and replaced again just in case it was the culprit.
Just so you know, this has been a long running 'issue' which I've not really touched on for some time.

Yes, but to date no reply from Red Dot - by email or in writing

Clearly, in my case, not. Although to be fair if I lived in Essex I'm sure they would honour their return to standard if it all turns to rat shit guarantee

I have toyed with the idea of getting an alternate map via another company. My location (Aberdeenshire and now Inverness) tends to make locating tuners offering what I'm looking for tricky. I could go to Fiat and get a standard map put back on the car, but then I'd be losing some 35bhp which I'd miss all too quickly. I have steered well clear of tuning boxes before and wouldn't consider them as a first option.

Too far, 1500+ mile round trip and possibly no help when I get there. Like I said in line one, no return contact from the tuners (sadly).

My bad on that one - it's such a long story that has crossed three forums (including this sites predecessor) I tend to forget not everyone who reads my more recent posts is familiar with the tale.

Have you tried calling them mate?
020 8912 2354
020 8912 2355
States on thier site they are in the process of moving shop, may use that as an excuse for not answering your email. You'll need to be quick or they'll write you off, and dont let on you;ve been toying with your motor to ascertain whats up else they "may" blame any problems on your investigative process Hmmmmmm.
Demand back to Ori and get a tuning box, maybe a nice one from Elitetuning ;) ;)
(j/k) let us know how you get on mate

Re: ABZSTILO - update on remap woes & stuff
I would get your vehicle back to standard and make sure its running fine and take things from there.
You could have a go at backing up the ecu as is and re-writing an original file back to the ECU. There are risks involved but it will save you money, or you could maybe get a tuner to do this for you?
When you know the car is running fine with the mods you have done then get it remapped, by someone who can make the required changes and maybe even tweak it for using a different MAP.

Re: ABZSTILO - update on remap woes & stuff
Although the beastie has been running well of late (only the very occasional beep beep beep bloody beep beep) I am considering returning it to standard and having a chat with elite about a box...... on the recommendation of one or two folk who have got in touch via this and one or two other forums.
We'll see. I do have a 'contact' at my local Fiat dealer who is going to investigate how much it'll cost to reset the car to a standard map at a friendly rate
Mind you, I'd miss that extra ooomph.... but for my own sanity I really need to get to the bottom of the problem.
