    Default Induction query

Well, just about decided on a design for my induction as this incredibly rough Photoshop shows...

    Picture 227afiltermockup.jpg

... 2x 45 degree pipe lengths linked with an anti-vibration coupler or silicone link with a twin cone metal gauze filter on the end. Perhaps with a heat shield round it.

Basically though I'm pondering where to put the cold air feed. I was going to have it attached to the air vent below the OS headlight BUT I've realised that it's a fake vent with no openness to it whatsoever. Now I think I have 2 options...1) Dremel an opening to have a bell mouth entry built into the fake vent with a mesh over the opening to prevent grit, etc going up it or 2) have the 57i arrangement where the intake pipe is dangling roughly where my undertray was, which seems a little dodgier.

Anyway, would be most grateful for opinions on this or whether there's another option

Doing it the way you have it in the photoshop puts the filter right over the top of the exhaust heat shield..I could show you different ways but i cant do bloomin photo shopping..will try to explain though what I mean..cut the existing hose just past the crank breather pipe so as to retain the breather pipe..push connector into existing pipe from T/B and refit the other piece onto the connector you inserted..now angle that piece with the mouth if the hose downwards but twist it to the right towards battery tray..under the battery tray you will find that there is a connection point that takes a 10mm bolt this is used for the air box mounting of 1.6/8/2.4 & jtd's you can make up a bracket with a twist in it to take the twin cone filter you eventually fit on the end of your pipe..ta daaaa.. if you find the hose going to the bracket aint long enough you will have to buy one that is..

Cheers for that Phil BUT that was kind of what I was trying to avoid as I don't really want to cut the original air pipe. Only reason being for that would be if I ever wanted to put things back to standard I'd have the original pipe. Don't see many of them come up on eBay or other places, which was why I've not been tempted to cut it.

The Photoshop I did wasn't really to scale, the filter will probably sit a little past the edge of where the airbox currently sits so the filter would sit in the space to the left of the picture and not directly above the manifold. Should've probably spent more time on the Photoshop really to illustrate that
